The Magic of Wadi Rum

(Duration: Half Day, One Day, One-Day-and-One-Night, or Longer)

Wadi Rum is a place that defies description—a landscape so vast, so silent, and so breathtakingly beautiful that it puts life into perspective. Sheer cliffs rise like ancient sentinels, endless dunes stretch beyond the horizon, and the crimson hues of sunset bathe the desert in fiery brilliance. To step into Wadi Rum is to enter a world untouched by time, where every rock and grain of sand whispers stories thousands of years old.

One of those voices belongs to T.E. Lawrence, better known as Lawrence of Arabia, whose words have immortalized this desert for generations. "Rum's glory would not let a man waste himself in feverish regrets," he wrote, capturing the profound impact this land had on him. In the century since Lawrence roamed these sands, little has changed. The silence, the scale, and the raw beauty remain as awe-inspiring today as they were then.

Short on Time?

If you only have half a day, we’ll do our best to show you the essence of Wadi Rum—but it’s almost impossible to fully experience its wonders in such a short time. Better yet, stretch your visit to a full day. This allows you to pause, breathe the crisp desert air, touch the ancient rocks, sip traditional Bedouin tea, and marvel at how people have thrived here for centuries.

A Full-Day Adventure

A full-day tour includes lunch in the heart of the desert and an unforgettable sunset. You’ll have ample time to explore all the main sites:

  • Ancient inscriptions and drawings hidden deep within Khazali Canyon.
  • Towering sand dunes that beg to be climbed.
  • Dramatic rock bridges carved by nature over millennia.
  • The real Lawrence’s Spring at Al Shallaleh, perched above a 2,000-year-old Nabatean temple.
  • Quiet, cool canyons and breathtaking panoramic views.

You can choose to walk, ride in a 4x4, or even spend an hour or two riding camels through the dunes—a true Bedouin experience.

Stay Overnight Under the Stars

Extend your journey with an overnight stay. Enjoy dinner in Saleh’s mother’s cozy Bedouin tent, nestled at the foot of Khazali. Today, the tent is well-equipped with modern amenities, including cooking facilities, a new WC, and a shower. Alternatively, sleep under the open sky, surrounded by millions of stars, or let Saleh set up camp wherever you wish.

Breakfast is included, though you’ll need to rise early if you plan to continue exploring. If you’re ready to abandon yourself to the magic of Wadi Rum, you can stay for another day—or more.

Saleh and his family are wonderful hosts.
I had a great day touring the desert with Saleh's son, ending the day with a beautiful sunset and dinner at the camp in the desert.
After an excellent night in the beautiful accommodation, a traditional breakfast saw me set for the day.
I wholeheartedly recommend the experience.
I just wish I had more time to spend with the family!

The two days in Wadi Rum were an unforgettable experience thanks to our friendly and open hosts and the perfect accommodation in a comfortable Bedouin tent. The jeep ride to various viewpoints and special attractions in the desert, including climbing the summit of Jabal Umm ad Dami with the family's son, will remain a special memory. The tea breaks in the Bedouin tents or in the shade of the bizarre rocks were also wonderful. The dinner in the communal tent was particularly enjoyable, with excellent freshly prepared food and nice conversations with the family, who provided very interesting insights into the traditional life of the Bedouins and the changes that the last decades have brought. Many thanks to the whole family.

We spent two nights in the Private Mountain View Tent and went on a one-day jeep tour with his son Moaz. We were warmly welcomed by the family and enjoyed the isolation of the camp - far away from mass tourism. We particularly appreciated the delicious food prepared by his wife Alya, the transparency of the costs, and the fact that our wishes were taken into account. We can definitely recommend Saleh's Camp.

Greetings Travelers
I must commend my friend Saleh on his Wadi Rum Tour Business. I myself am an international traveler and I have experience in Egypt and in Jordan
Specifically, having worked with other bedouins i can say that Saleh specifically is a safe conscientious integritus choice. You do not have to worry about people being forced to serve you that are not quite being paid, or that may not be there of their own volition. There are men and women that work with him, part of his family. So he's safe for everyone who wants to travel who may have women and children in their party and want a mixture to bring balance to thier travel adventure. Acommading and patient he is by far my first choice in all my endeavors in the wadi rum an incredible wild untouched undeveloped wilderness Rich in Mountains Stars and Mysteries . 5 Stars 🌟

If you’re coming to Wadi Rum, I can’t recommend Saleh’s Safari Camp enough! From the moment we arrived, Saleh and his family welcomed us with true Bedouin hospitality — starting with delicious Bedouin tea.
They took us out to explore the desert, showing us the beauty and secrets of Wadi Rum. His wife cooked us an amazing traditional dinner, and his son guided us through the desert with so much knowledge and kindness, explaining everything along the way.
The camp itself was spotless, comfortable, and located in such a beautiful, peaceful spot inside Wadi Rum (specially to watch the sunset). Sleeping there felt magical. 🌌
We left feeling like we were part of their family. Truly one of the best travel experiences we’ve ever had. 🙏🐪

We had an amazing time with Saleh’s oldest son, Moaz as our tour guide and host for our one night stay in Wadi Rum. The dinner that Saleh’s wife made for us was incredible and there was so much of it that we unfortunately couldn’t finish. We got to learn a lot about the Bedouin culture as well an enjoyed the scenery. The camp was really comfy and the shared bathroom is very clean. We highly recommend going with Saleh and his family.

This is my second time visiting Wadi Rum and doing the tour with Saleh. Both times the experience had been super amazing and we formed a really good friendship. Saleh and his son was super engaged and entertaining we enjoyed the trip a lot with them. It was a very authentic experience that is incomparable with other commercial tours. For sure we will come back again. It’s a must visit!

I stayed with Saleh and his family for two nights. The first night I was welcomed in the family complex and the second at the camp. I was welcomed warmly, experienced the family setting and traditions, and above all learned so much about the desert and the life there. It opened my eyes culturally and I strongly believe it was one of the most amazing trips I’ve done. Desert is unforgiving, and life there can be too - cold nights and warm days, there’s much to prepare, but it’s raw and untouched, a place where humans have blended perfectly with the nature, respect it and learn to adapt to it. Our guide Moaaz (Saleh’s son) was knowledgeable, fun and in a small group we were able to see so much and become friends. This is a family business, maybe even the only one in Wadi Rum that offers an authentic unpretentious encounter with the bedouins and the desert. I could not recommend it more! If you’re looking to really see Wadi Rum through local eyes, then do it with Saleh and his family.

We loved everything about our tour. Saleh's family was very welcoming and treated us like a part of the family. His wife prepared us lunch and it was one of the most delicious and homy meals we had in Jordan. His son, Muadh took us on the 4x4 tour and took us to the most beautiful and important sites as we were short on time. We will come again and take a longer tour with Saleh next time.

I love Saleh and the place. His place is well kept and all equipments work well. His family works as great team that made our stay excellent.
Saleh and his son made sure not only that all basic hospitality requirements are all met, but they also do the extra miles by providing friendship and abundance of information and stories.
We will definitely go to Saleh's again InshaaAllah.

Authentic and Beautiful!

We spent 1 day and 1 night at Saleh's camp and it was everything we wanted.

When we first arrived we felt right at home as we were welcomed into their house for tea and snacks.

Did a short 1 hour tour and then we were treated to an amazing homemade lunch from Saleh's wife.

After lunch Saleh's oldest son took us on a 6 hour adventure around Wadi Rum and all the sights, most of them we ended up having to ourselves.

After the tour we were brought back to camp, first impressions are always something and this place did not disappoint.

Our room was a 2 person Bedouin cabin with a small window with a huge view.

Saleh has multiple buildings for small to large groups and everything in-between.

Please note this is not the giant companies with domes and A/C and pools, Saleh's camp is a family run business and is more authentic with simple rooms and great views.

After check in we went to an amazing sunset spot, then we were called for another home cooked meal.. Spectacular.

Our night was filled with drum lessons and conversation by the fire.

I highly recommend it.

Great experience as first-time visitors in Wadi Rum. Due to itinerary constraints, we could only fit a 3-hour tour in our schedule, but it was well worth it. Communication prior to the tour via Whatsapp was very smooth and easy, and they did not ask for pre-payment of any form. Saleh sent us a location in the Wadi Rum Village to meet, where we parked our rental car at his house. We were greeted by his family upon arrival, and offered tea and coffee while waiting for him. The vehicle was very nice and in good condition, it was a Toyota pick-up with a bench in the back to enjoy the desert views. The tour was beautiful, Saleh drove us to the main desert sights and provided historical context to understand the Wadi Rum as a place of passage. We particularly enjoyed the Red Sand Dunes, the Khazali Canyon and the Special Canyon hike. We found the bridges to be very touristy and not that worth it. I’d definitely recommend them for a Wadi Rum tour!

Saleh’s camp is the best experience I had in Jordan! It is a real authentic Bedouin experience. The price we paid was very reasonable for a fully package. We arrived way earlier than expected but Saleh’s family were generous enough to offer us lunch at their home, before going on a safari tour with his son to the best spots in Wadi Rum. Their camp and the night stars were amazing! Great place for families, friends, or couples!! This is really the best experience I had in Jordan.
