We have noticed on other web-sites that some visitors to Wadi Rum (particularly it seems Americans) report being "stressed out" by the whole experience.  Please note that you're coming to one of the most special places on the planet!!  but that some of the 'home comforts' you take for granted may not be available.  For most of us this is part of the appeal.  If you may have other thoughts then please This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it , to make sure you will enjoy sharing the bedouin way of life in Wadi Rum.

Rum is a wilderness. As we explain in Tour 8 it's a fragile environment and a Protected Area so there are some rules and regulations you need to follow to help to look after this special place.

http://wadirum.jo/Rules.htm

There are no mountain or climbing rescue services in Rum, though everyone here will help in an emergency. This means it is unreasonable of you to venture without a guide on slopes and climbs you don't know well. Therefore we insist you take a guide if you're going to places you've not visited before; the cost is small compared to the cost of getting you down if you're lost or injured.

Be aware that you come to Rum and travel in Rum at your own risk. We will do our best to advise you and look after you but this is not a stroll around a European Nature Reserve with European Health and Safety and Liability standards. Make sure your personal insurance is adequate for your visit. There is a hospital in Aqaba, 40 minutes away but there are not many medical facilities closer than that.
